ABOUT
Sara Vidas is the founder of STUDIO VIDAS, an independent design studio currently located as a Pop-Up in the heart of Zurich sharing an in-house atelier with Schneiderei Keel.
For almost two decades, Sara Vidas has worked across fashion design, art and styling - creating distinctive pieces with a strong sense of individuality, craftsmanship and character. A love for vintage and strong sense of sustainability has been part of her work from the very beginning. Found objects, materials and unexpected details have shaped her design language over the years – inspiring an approach centred around seeing potential, reinterpreting what already exists and giving it new relevance. Her connection to vintage and knowledge in fashion history also extends beyond her own design practice: In 2024 she helped build and establish Cabinet Vintage in Zurich, gaining experience in retail, sourcing, selecting and curating exceptional vintage pieces.
Today, her design practice focuses on one-of-a-kind pieces created from existing garments and materials, alongside small editions and on-demand production. At her studio, these ideas are developed and realised in the in-house atelier, where garments are designed, altered and reworked. Her work as a fashion stylist has also led Sara to build a personal archive of clothing and accessories over the years. A small, changing selection of pieces from her archive is available at the studio, alongside her own designs and a carefully curated selection of products and objects.
Her studio is conceived as a working design space - a place for design, craftsmanship and discovery. With STUDIO VIDAS Sara works also as an independent fashion stylist and design consultant for national and international companies, photographers and private clients. Working closely with her clients, Sara combines an experienced eye for proportion, material and quality with an intuitive understanding of personal style and the person who will ultimately wear the clothes.
Previously, Sara was Co-Head of Styling at Swiss Television SRF and worked with Fashion Designer Peter Jensen in London and Accessory Designer Melissa Lloyd Maish in Florence. Her own work has received the Swiss Federal Design Award and the Apolda European Design Award and she was nominated for the Design Preis Switzerland. She was a worldwide testimonial for the international design fair Blickfang, participated in the Beijing International Design Triennale and had her debut runway show at Paris Fashion Week as part of the official calendar in 2011.
Sara studied at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), Universidad de Buenos Aires FADU UBA and the Institute of Fashion Design at HGK Basel.
She lives and works in Zurich.
